CLARINDA LOW
Clarinda Mac Low is a choreographer, director, teacher and writer who makes work in collaboration with dancers, visual artists, film-makers, actors, musicians and high school students among others. Her solo work and collaborative group extravaganzas have been presented in theaters throughout NYC and elsewhere. Her work uses an amalgam of movement, video, installation and theater to create complex environments. Recent work: Odd Sea (The Return) (1999), a performance based on the Odyssey that took place on a century-old ferryboat; and The Division of Memory (2001), a multi-media performance based in the life of biologist Ernest Everett Just. Mac Low has spent ten years working as a researcher in HIV laboratories and currently works as a freelance science and medical journalist. Her essays and stories have been published here and there, and she is honored to be included in this evening.
