BEATA MOON

Korean-American Beata Moon (composer/pianist/educator) was born in North Dakota and concertized throughout the Midwest from the age of eight. In 1990 she received a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Juilliard School where she studied with Adele Marcus. After a semester of the Masters Degree Program, Moon took a break from playing to reflect on her relationship to music. At this time she dis-covered composing and teaching, which eventually resulted in her return to performing. She performs her own works in addition to those of both traditional and contemporary composers and is actively involved in aesthetic education as a teaching artist at Lincoln Center Institute. Recent commissions by
the dance company, SENSEDANCE, Moonpaths and Dolphins and Antelopes, premiered at St. Mark¹s Church (NYC).
Her chamber ensemble debuts at the Miller Theater next February and she has performances for Lincoln Center Institute's 2001-02 repertory. Perigee & Apogee, a CD featuring solo piano and chamber works is available on
Albany Records.
