SANJANA NAIR
Sanjana Nair is a poet and writer holding an MFA from New York University. She
is a Professor for the City Universities
of New York (CUNY). She
has served as judge for CUNY's creative writing competition, is a founding
board member of Kundiman, Inc. (a New York Foundation for the Arts [NYFA]
sponsored non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Asian American
Poetry), has instructed for CUNY's program to highlight poetry in the
schools with guest lecturers Kimiko Hahn, Billy Collins (former Poet
Laureate) and Grace Schulmann, and has published poetry in numerous journals
including Spoon River Anthology, Pudding Magazine and the forthcoming
Asian American Anthology of Poetry among others. She has participated
in a multimedia Visual Poetry Exhibition at Verlaine, has read for numerous
series such as The Frequency Series and has also read for multiple venues
including Dixon Place, The Ear Inn and The Bowery Poetry Club. Her
most recent writing honor was as guest poet and commencement speaker
at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (2004). She currently lives
and writes on the tiny, bustling island of Manhattan.
